The clients have a love of the Los Angeles mid-century look and commissioned us to design a modern NZ take on that vernacular. The resulting design has a sleek and simple profile with a key focus being on outdoor living, seamlessly integrated with the dwelling. The resulting covered terrace areas are expansive, providing generous areas for relaxing in both summer and winter. The dwelling gives nothing away when arriving, presenting a long wall of colour steel and cedar with minimal glazing, but once through the front door, opens up to the views over Hawkes Bay with large expanses of glass and light.
